Our History

Riley-Gardner Memorial Service Company, a family owned and operated business is now in its fourth generation serving families in both Texas and Oklahoma. Owners Robert “Bob” Gardner and his son Riley F. Gardner are dedicated to providing their families with quality products and most importantly quality service. With this focus, Riley Gardner Memorial has become Texas’ largest monument company.

From its humble beginnings in 1907, owner Elder Lynn Dalton opened his small monument shop to serve families in and around Hamilton, Texas.

In 1957 the business was purchased by Bob Riley, Kenneth Gardner and Melvin Henkes, thereby changing the name to Riley-Gardner Memorial Service Company. Kenneth Gardner became the sole owner of the business in 1980 and he was soon joined by his son Bob in 1982. Thus began the company’s expansion with multiple retail locations and funeral home partners over the coming decades.

Riley F. Gardner returned to Hamilton and joined his father in the family business in 2003. Riley’s focus and desire were to upgrade the company’s manufacturing and design capabilities with many state-of-the-art technologies; thus providing families with many more design options and custom monuments that are manufactured in granite and marble from across the globe.

Jon Lengefeld joined the family business and opened Central Texas Memorial from 1999 to 2001. Jon rejoined the family business in 2013 as Sales Manager with a focus on retail outlet expansion and funeral home partner relationships.
